WHAT IS IT ?

Fractional laser is a modern method of skin rejuvenation without the need for a long recovery period, unlike surgical procedures. It is widely used in aesthetic medicine and is recommended to people over 30 years to reduce fine wrinkles, stretch marks and discolorations as well as post-traumatic scars. The procedure is performed using a special device capable of penetrating the tissues and is based on the phenomenon of fractional photothermolysis.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

The Fotona fractional laser beam creates micro-perforations on the surface of the skin and heats the deep layers of the dermis. This aims to activate the fibroblasts, thus causing the synthesis of new collagen. All this leads to the effect of skin rejuvenation and smoothing of wrinkles

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

During the treatment, the treating professional will place the tip of the fractional laser directly on the surface of the skin and move it over the entire area to be treated. A laser beam will be emitted with each pulse, penetrating the skin to a pre-selected depth. There is a correlation according to which the greater the penetration into the skin, the more new collagen fibers will be created.

DOES IT HURT ?

Normally, the patient experiences a tingling sensation that is fairly well tolerated. To reduce discomfort, a numbing cream is applied to the skin for about 60 minutes prior to the procedure.
Each procedure lasts from 10 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treated area and the desired depth of treatment determined by the treating professional, taking into consideration the treatment goals and patient expectations. Most patients return to regular activity 5-7 days after treatment.
The final effects of a series of fractional laser treatments can be fully evaluated after approximately three months. The duration of these effects varies from one individual to another but the suggested maintenance is every 12-24 months depending on the skin condition treated.
Depending on the treatment depth, which is individual, the downtime can vary from 3 days to a week. Most patients return to regular activities 5-7 days after treatment. A more profound treatment means longer recovery time.
To achieve stable and clearly visible final results, it is recommended to undergo a series of fractional laser treatments. In order to maintain obtained results, it is advisable to use sunscreen protection in the daytime as well as medical-grade skincare in the nighttime.
The safety of fractional laser has been proven by research and clinical studies, and the risk of significant complications is minimal. Possible side effects may include redness, swelling, as well as moderate burning or itching sensation in the affected areas, which usually resolve within a few hours to a few days.
Contraindications to fractional laser include pregnancy, breastfeeding, infections, open wounds, etc. A complete medical questionnaire must be completed before proceeding with a treatment such as this one.
