WHAT IS IT ?

The IncontiLase laser uses a safe and non-invasive technology designed to treat stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence is the involuntary urination when the abdominal muscles are tensed while coughing, sneezing, laughing, or playing various forms of sport. This condition is caused by a collagen loss and weakness of the pelvic floor muscles, as well as sagging of the vaginal walls caused by delivery or hormonal changes during menopause. IncontiLase procedure allows you to quickly and comfortably eliminate the discomfort and shortens the time to return to daily activities.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

The IncontiLase treatment uses an Er:YAG laser that provides energy delivery to the vaginal mucosa and the collagen-rich pelvic fascia area. The laser initiates collagen remodelling and new collagen formation leading to contraction and firming of the tissues and restoration of the urinary retention function.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS ?

The IncontiLase procedure restores the elasticity of the pelvic floor muscles and the upper vaginal wall by strengthening the vaginal-bladder fascia and stimulating the growth of mucosal collagen fibers. The treatment improves the condition of the entire urethral area and vaginal walls. The IncontiLase procedure reduces the angle of inclination of the urethra and restore its proper functionality.

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

The procedure consists of inserting the device into the vagina through which the laser beam will heat the vaginal vestibule, the urethral opening and the area along the anterior wall of the vagina. The heat penetrates the tissue and stimulates collagen to shrink and create new fibers, which results in the tightening of tissues and improved control over physiological functions.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about this technology

DOES IT HURT ?

The IncontiLase procedure is a relatively painless and minimally invasive procedure. Local anesthetic is used only at the entrance of the vagina. Most patients report a feeling of warmth, while some patients report slight discomfort during the first procedure.
The whole procedure lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. To achieve the desired effect, it is often recommended to undergo a series of 3 procedures performed 4 weeks apart.
The effect of the IncontiLase treatment is very long-lasting. In most patients, it lasts up to 24 months. After that period, a slight weakening of the effect may be noticed. In women of childbearing age, the effect is more durable and can last for many years, while in postmenopausal women, the effectiveness of the procedure depends on additional support with pharmacological treatment or Kegel exercises.
No recovery time is needed and patients can return to their daily activities right after the procedure. For several days after the procedure, the use of sanitary pads may be required due to augmented vaginal discharge. It is advisable to refrain from sexual intercourse for 1 week after the procedure.
To maintain the achieved effect, it is advisable to perform 1-2 maintenance treatments per year.
The procedure is approved by the FDA and Health Canada. It is very safe if performed by an experienced professional.
Although it is a safe procedure, the IncontiLase treatment has certain contraindications. These include pregnancy, vaginal infections and an abnormal PAP smear test within the last year.
