WHAT IS IT ?

The IntimaLase procedure is a non-invasive method of vaginal tightening using the Er:YAG laser. The technique is used for the treatment of vaginal relaxation syndrome which is excessive stretching of the vagina due to weakening of the vaginal wall muscles and surrounding structures that can occur after childbirth or as a result of heavy physical work, genetic predisposition or the natural aging process. IntimaLase firms and shrinks the vaginal canal by photothermal stimulation of collagen renewal, which causes contraction and tightening of the wall.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

The IntimaLase treatment uses an Er:YAG laser that delivers energy to the vaginal mucosa and the collagen-rich area of the pelvic fascia. The laser initiates the remodeling of collagen and the formation of new collagen, resulting in a firming and contraction of the vagina.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS ?

The IntimaLase procedure stimulates new collagen formation and the thickening of muscle and mucosal tissues leading to contraction and tightening of the laser exposed tissues. The result of just one IntimaLase treatment is a toned vaginal canal, which translates into greater sexual satisfaction and improved quality of life.

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

During the IntimaLase procedure, a special tip is introduced into the vagina, which emits a laser beam with a specific wavelength. Laser energy is supplied to the vaginal opening and vaginal canal in the form of radiation. Laser directly affects the vaginal mucosa by stimulating the activation of fibroblasts and new collagen production, thus firming up the vaginal walls.

DOES IT HURT ?

The IntimaLase procedure is a relatively painless and minimally invasive procedure. Local anesthetic is used only at the entrance of the vagina. Most patients report a feeling of warmth, while some patients report slight discomfort during the first procedure.
The whole procedure lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. To achieve the desired effect, it is often recommended to undergo a series of 3 procedures performed 4 weeks apart.
It is recommended to do 3 consecutive treatments in order to obtain optimal before/after results. The effect is long-lasting, on average up to 24 months. In women of childbearing age, the effect is more durable and can last for many years, while in postmenopausal women, the effectiveness of the procedure depends on additional support with Kegel exercises, for example.
No recovery time is needed and patients can return to their daily activities right after the procedure. For several days after the procedure, the use of sanitary pads may be required due to augmented vaginal discharge. It is advisable to refrain from sexual intercourse for 1 week after the procedure.
To maintain the achieved effect, it is advisable to perform 1-2 maintenance treatments per year.
The procedure is approved by the FDA and Health Canada. It is very safe if performed by an experienced professional.
Although it is a safe procedure, the IntimaLase treatment has certain contraindications. These include pregnancy, vaginal infections and an abnormal PAP smear test within the last year.
