WHAT IS IT ?

Mesotherapy is an aesthetic procedure used to correct certain skin defects, including age-related changes such as wrinkles. Mesotherapy consists of injecting a product made of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes into the dermis. This procedure is safe and non-surgical. It can be used both in younger patients for prevention and in more mature patients who are looking for greater results.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Mesotherapy consists of multiple micro-injections of liquid made of hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, C and E as well as minerals. Hyaluronic acid, the main ingredient of mesotherapy injections, is a compound naturally present in the skin and acts like a sponge by binding water to the skin. One molecule of hyaluronic acid is capable of binding to approximately 250 molecules of water. This mechanism then moisturizes and smoothes the skin, in addition to stimulating the formation of collagen and elastin fibers.

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

The procedure is performed with a very fine needle and is virtually painless. For more sensitive patients, a local anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area one hour before the procedure. After the injections, small bumps resembling water drops placed under the skin are visible. They gradually disappear over a period of approximately 24-28 hours and do not require any special attention.

DOES IT HURT ?

In most cases, the procedure is well tolerated and doesn't cause major pain. In order to avoid any discomfort, an anesthetic cream can be applied on the treated area before the procedure.
The treatment takes about 30 to 60 minutes. The final result can be observed after 4 weeks and the best results are obtained by performing a series of mesotherapy treatments. The exact number of treatments to be done depends on the condition of the skin and the patient's expectations, but in general 3 treatments at 3-week intervals is sufficient.
The effect of a mesotherapy treatment lasts around 12 months. It is recommended to do 1 to 2 treatments per year to maintain the results.
In most cases, recovery time is minimal. The majority of patients will resume their daily activities immediately after treatment. However, some patients may experience minor side effects such as swelling or bruising at the injection sites. These usually disappear within 24-48 hours.
Initially, a series of consecutive treatments will give the best results. Thereafter, in order to maintain the effects obtained, it is recommended to do 1 to 2 mesotherapy treatments per year. The number and frequency of maintenance sessions will be determined by the treating professional, taking into account the patient's age, skin characteristics and expectations.
Mesotherapy is considered a safe procedure if performed by a qualified treating professional. Side effects are rare and include pain and swelling at the injection site, bruising, rash and transient itching.
Although mesotherapy injections are a regenerative procedure, it's not recommended for everyone. There are certain contraindications, including pregnancy and hypersensitivity to any component of the injection.
