STEP BY STEP PROTOCOL

ASSESSMENT AND TOPICAL ANESTHETIC CREAM APPLICATION

Your treating professional will conduct your full assessment after reviewing your medical questionnaire, including pictures taken from different angles and visual analysis. You will need to apply an anesthetic cream one hour before your treatment to make the treatment more comfortable. Depending on the severity of your acne scars, the treatment depth and the number of passes will be adjusted.

PREPARATION OF THE AREA TO BE TREATED

After letting the anesthetic cream do its work, your treating professional will clean your face. He will disinfect it with compresses and an alcohol solution. You will be lying down comfortably and will need to wear small protective eyewear during the procedure.

LASER TREATMENT WITH ER:YAG

Fractional laser treatment is minimally invasive and will create micro-perforations in your skin. You may hear the sound of a medical air aspirator being used to collect vapors. The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes.

PROTECTION BARRIER AND POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

An occlusive ointment suitable for your skin type will be applied to the treated area. The latter is essential for healing and cell regeneration. Your treating professional will explain the post-treatment instructions and give you a written copy to take home.

WHAT WILL MY ACNE SCARS LOOK LIKE IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY APPOINTMENT ?

You should expect to have some normal inflammatory reactions. You will have redness, edema, a feeling of heat, and slight tenderness. There might even be a few dried blood droplets on the treated area. Do not worry; these reactions will not be permanent. They should last between 3 and 7 days. You will need to follow the post-treatment instructions that your professional will explain to you. He will give you a written copy to take home.
You will have normal side effects, including redness and swelling, for about 5 days after your treatment. You may find it uncomfortable to go out in public as long as your skin isn't completely healed. Be aware that depending on the intensity of the treatment you have received, determined in advance by your professional, your recovery time may be faster. It is at your own discretion to refrain from going out during this time.
