Dental

Non-invasive medico-aesthetic treatments have experienced strong growth in recent years. This phenomenon is most certainly attributable to the fact that the technologies used are more and more efficient, thus providing impressive results, without surgery. Depending on their mechanism of action, the various lasers and radiofrequency devices allow, among other things, to erase pigmented lesions, to treat texture problems such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, dilated pores and stretch marks, or to sculpt parts of the body by tightening them and eliminating fatty deposits. Since there are so many devices that are used to provide dozens of different treatments, it can be difficult to navigate. In this blog, we therefore explain the different uses of medico-aesthetic technologies available at Clinique Chloé.

V-BEAM

The V-Beam is a pulsed dye laser whose light is attracted specifically to oxyhemoglobin, a molecule that gives the color red to your rosacea lesions and blood vessels in general. This laser is therefore used to treat rosacea, cherry angiomas, port wine stains, telangectasias and other inflammatory conditions such as active acne. It is also used to improve the appearance and color of scars, or to treat post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Depending on the condition to be treated, it usually takes between 2 and 4 treatments, at 4-week intervals.

FOTONA

The Fotona is a device that houses two different lasers, an Erbium:YAG and an Nd:YAG. Each having a different wavelength of light, we therefore use the Fotona to treat a variety of conditions. First, it is used for hair removal on all skintypes. It is also used in body contouring to destroy fat cells forming unwanted fat deposits on the body, with its Hot Sculpting mode. In Tight Sculpting mode, it also helps to firm the skin of parts of the body such as the abdomen, arms or thighs. For facial skin tightening, its Fotona 4D treatment includes 4 steps targeting each layer of the skin. The Fotona is also an ally of choice when it comes to women’s health. It is used to treat stress urinary incontinence, vaginal atrophy and vaginal tightening. Its versatility allows to even treat active acne, or snoring. The majority of treatments performed with this device are non-invasive, which means that there is no downtime required after a procedure, hence its popularity. The only treatment that requires recovery time is fractional resurfacing, which can treat serious skin texture or pigmentation issues. In this case, you should allow about 5-7 days of downtime.

VENUS LEGACY

Venus Legacy is a device that uses radiofrequency to heat the dermis in depth and thus stimulate the process of formation of new collagen fibers. This new collagen provides noticeable firming of the skin. When radiofrequency energy is combined with mechanical massage, this device also helps reduce the appearance of cellulite. A course of 6 to 8 treatments, performed every week, is usually necessary for optimal results.

VENUS VIVA

Venus Viva also uses radiofrequency, but this time in a fractional way, to treat several skin texture issues. It is mainly used to improve the appearance of scars, especially those caused by acne, or the appearance of stretch marks. It also helps to reduce or even erase many fine lines and wrinkles while firming dilated pores. Since this treatment resurfaces the skin, it requires a recovery time of about 2 to 5 days. Depending on the textural condition to be treated, 4 to 6 treatments done every 4 weeks are usually necessary.

PROFOUND RF

Profound is a long-pulse radiofrequency microneedling treatment. The controlled heat of 67 degrees Celsius delivered directly into the dermis activates the skin’s natural regenerative processes, increasing the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. This treatment therefore effectively firms the skin to reduce sagging skin on the face and neck, and fades fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in an overall lifting effect on the face and neck. Although this treatment is more expensive than some other laser skin treatments, it provides a third of the results of a surgical facelift, and these results also last longer (up to 5 years). You will only need one treatment, and results will evolve for 12 months.

IPL

Intense pulsed light, or IPL, is technically not a laser since its light covers a large portion of the light spectrum, unlike actual lasers which emit light with a specific wavelength. IPL is mainly used to get rid of pigmented lesions, or dark spots, either from sun or old age. The heat released during the treatment also helps stimulate the formation of new collagen. The areas most often treated with IPL are the face, décolleté and hands. It usually takes 2 to 4 treatments at 4-week intervals for best results. It is then suggested to do 1 to 3 maintenance treatments per year to maintain an even complexion.
