The aim of using injectables is to attain a well-balanced appearance that feels just right – fillers, Botox, Nuceiva etc.

For example, Botox is commonly known for its role in reducing wrinkles, while fillers are recognized for restoring volume and plumping up the skin.

Imagine getting both fillers and Botox simultaneously — what should you anticipate before and after this combined treatment?

At Clinique Chloe, in Montreal, our approach is to achieve a natural appearance that enhances your already beautiful features. The combination of neuromodulators and fillers can achieve this.

In this blog post, we’ll explain the benefits of fillers and Botox, and what to expect before and after this combination.

Fillers and Botox: What They Treat

Fillers work by restoring volume to specific areas of the face, offering a plumping effect that smoothens fine lines and wrinkles, providing a rejuvenated appearance.

Fillers create a youthful and fuller appearance in addition to adding structure to facial features. They can be used in areas such as temples, chin, jawline, under eye, nose, marionette lines, lips, smile lines and so on.

Popular fillers include Restylane, Juvéderm, Radiesse and Sculptra.

On the other hand, while a household name, Botox is just one of the many brands of neuromodulators – similar to how you might say “Kleenex” instead of tissues. Other FDA-approved neuromodulators you should know are Nuceiva, Dysport and Xeomin.

Neuromodulators can be used to relax the facial muscles that cause forehead lines, frown lines, bunny lines, gummy smiles, crow’s feet and so on, to create a rested look.

Fillers and Botox: How They Work Together

Fillers and neuromodulators team up to give your face a full refresh, dealing with different parts of facial aging.

Because different types of wrinkles exist, they need different treatments, and that’s the beauty of this combination. A great example is dynamic versus static wrinkles.

The wrinkles you get from lots of facial expressions, like smiling (crow’s feet) and frowning (forehead lines), are called dynamic wrinkles. To treat them, we inject neuromodulators into the muscles causing those lines. This immobilizes the nerve signals for a while, relaxing the muscles and toning down the look of those dynamic wrinkles.

On the other hand, static wrinkles happen when your face loses volume. That’s where fillers come in handy. They bring back volume to those areas, smoothing out those static lines.

And so, this combination creates a cohesive overall look.

But there are other benefits:

  • Proactive Aging Approach: People are starting to see neuromodulators and dermal fillers as preventive measures. Using these injectables regularly can stop future lines and wrinkles, slowing down the facial aging process.
  • Natural Results: In the end, this duo gives you a well-balanced and harmonious appearance.
  • Minimal Downtime: Even though there’s already little downtime, using both Botox and fillers means you don’t have to take long breaks from your daily life. No extended recovery periods, no disruptions to your busy schedule.
  • Fewer Clinic Visits: This combo lets you spend less time in the clinic and more time enjoying your regular activities.

What to Expect Before and After Injectables

Before & During Treatment

A thorough assessment will be discussed to address areas of concern and how these can be complemented with other areas to balance facial features.

Because we are aware that a common concern is looking “overdone”, we adopt a personalized and conservative approach while enhancing your natural features.

A total of 60 minutes is booked per consultation, where you’re taken through every step of the process. Our professionals always advise some areas may be more sensitive than others.

The injections themselves are quick and generally not very painful, thanks to our highly trained medical professionals.

Afterwards, your face will feel refreshed, and the results will gradually appear over the following days, lasting several months.

After Treatment

After getting neuromodulators or fillers, it’s key to stick to the post-care instructions. We recommend the following:

  • Skip intense exercise or vigorous physical activity on the day of the treatment.
  • Avoid touching or applying pressure to the treated areas for a few hours.
  • Limit alcohol intake and smoking for the first 24 hours after the injections to minimize possible bruising or swelling.
  • Resume your skincare routines 1 – 2 hours post-treatment or, preferably, the next day.

While these treatments are generally safe, they can have specific side effects.

Several studies have pointed out potential temporary side effects of Botox and fillers, which include:

  • Redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site
  • Tenderness (pain when touching the site)
  • Allergic or hypersensitivity reaction

In case you experience any side effects, inform your treatment provider promptly.

At Clinique Chloe, we prioritize your safety by having qualified, board-certified injectors administer the injections.

We take measures like obtaining a detailed medical history and discussing the treatment options in depth with every patient to ensure the best possible outcomes. Additionally, we use high-quality products and provide thorough aftercare instructions to maximize the longevity of your results.
