WHAT IS IT ?

RenovaLase is a laser technology used to treat vaginal atrophy, based on the principle of photothermal treatment with an Er:YAG laser. Vaginal atrophy is the thinning and drying of the vaginal walls caused by a lack of estrogens and most often occurs in women after menopause. The main symptoms of vaginal atrophy are vaginal dryness, burning sensation, itching, and pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse. RenovaLase is a safe and non-invasive treatment for vaginal atrophy that doesn't require a long downtime.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

RenovaLase is based on soft and controlled laser heating of vaginal tissue, which increases the fibroblasts' activity, stimulates angiogenesis and the formation of new collagen without ablative damage. The result of the procedure is an increase in the thickness of the vaginal epithelium and its vascularization, as well as a decrease in the symptoms of dryness, itching and pain during intercourse.

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

During the RenovaLase procedure, a special tip is introduced into the vagina, which emits a laser beam with a specific wavelength. Laser energy is supplied to the vaginal opening and vaginal canal in the form of radiation. Laser directly affects the vaginal mucosa by stimulating the activation of fibroblasts and new collagen production, restoring mucosal layer structure to a normal state.

DOES IT HURT ?

The RenovaLase procedure is a relatively painless and minimally invasive procedure. Local anesthetic is used only at the entrance of the vagina. Most patients report a feeling of warmth, while some patients report slight discomfort during the first procedure.
The whole procedure lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. To achieve the desired effect, it is often recommended to undergo a series of 3 procedures performed 4 weeks apart.
The effect of the RenovaLase treatment is very long-lasting. In most patients, it lasts up to 24 months. After that period, a slight weakening of the effect may be noticed. It is recommended to do 1-2 maintenance treatments per year to maintain the achieved result.
No recovery time is needed and patients can go home and return to their daily activities right after the procedure. For several days after the procedure, the use of sanitary pads may be required due to augmented vaginal discharge. It is advisable to refrain from sexual contacts for 1 week after the procedure.
To maintain the achieved effect, it is advisable to perform 1-2 maintenance treatments per year.
The procedure is approved by the FDA and Health Canada. It is very safe if performed by an experienced professional.
Although it is a safe procedure, the RenovaLase treatment has certain contraindications. These include pregnancy, vaginal infections and an abnormal PAP smear test within the last year.
