WHAT IS IT ?

Chemical peels are a method of skin rejuvenation and involve the removal of the superficial layers of the epidermis using weak to strong acid solutions. Chemical peels are products specially designed to improve the quality and condition of the skin. They are mainly used for the treatment of skin pigmentation, dilated skin pores, scars, as well as wrinkles and fine lines on the surface of the skin and associated with the inability to exfoliate dead epithelial cells. Most often, the procedure is used on the face but can also be applied to the skin on the hands, neck, décolleté and even the back.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

The exfoliating effect of chemical peels is due to the action of the special chemical solutions used, most commonly glycolic acid or salicylic acid. When applied to the skin, these chemicals provide uniform exfoliation of several layers of dead cells, which promotes skin rejuvenation and stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. As a result of chemical peels, skin tone and elasticity are improved.

WHAT IS
THE TECHNIQUE ?

A chemical peel treatment begins by cleansing the face, followed by the application of the liquid selected individually for the patient's skin type. The chemical peel is applied with a brush or cotton swab. Once the solution has been applied to the skin, there may be a slight burning or stinging sensation, but this is not a painful procedure. After a few minutes, the chemical solution is either neutralized with a moisturizer or removed from the skin by washing with water.
